In the living room, a family is seated watching a friendly game of soccer on the television. The family moment cannot be fully enjoyed because of a distant yet prominent sound. The father had started scratching his feet — the noise of nails against his old, dry skin was unsettling. First year City College student Ashley Borja states that this is one of the worst actions that bothers her (Borja).
Good hygiene is the most important thing a person should participate in. A person having dry and cracking skin demonstrates that they do not. According to Borja, “skin becomes rough if it is not treated properly” (Borja). She goes on to say, “ the sight and sound of someone scratching their poorly treated skin is disgusting.”
People should not neglect taking care of their feet. It shows that the person does not keep themselves clean. “Lotion was made to be used towards making skin healthy” Borja says (Borja). Skin should not be in such condition. Pharmacies are loaded with all kinds of lotions for different types of skin. All people can have nice, soft skin because of the availability and variety.
The interview was awkward for me at first. I am not one to start a conversation with a stranger. After the first few questions, it began to flow naturally. The writing part was easy for me because I acquired all the information I needed. Since the pet peeve was an odd one, I find my mini essay to be a bit humorous. The structure made it simpler for me to begin writing. I started with a story that Borja had told me in the interview. I added minor details to emphasize the pet peeve. My overall experience with this assignment was very good. I would want to work a little more on my interviewing skills — like calming my nerves and come up with better questions.
