Mother gave me

a necklace

as a gift for my birthday

She had two of the same necklace

One gold, one silver

With a pendant of a heart

I received the silver one

I put the necklace in my jewelry box

for safekeeping

It laid there 

until I remembered it

The necklace has value and meaning

I inherited this from my mother

It should not be locked away

This necklace belongs around my neck.
